The Gedeo are often conflicting with Guji Oromos for farmland areas (Obulutsu, 2018). About 700,000 people have been displaced due to the violence along the border of Gedeo and West Guji Zones (Mules, 2018). These include reports of burned houses, stolen land and crops, lynchings, rapes, and beheadings often with complicity of local officals, police, and militias (Gardner 2019). The data quality is a 2 because there is a lot of data about ethnic conflict, but few specifics about the instances of killing. The data quality receives a 2, for the lack of details on causes of death and sparse journal articles written on the subject.
