As part of post-WW2 Communist purges, as many as 40,000 Hungarians in Serbia may have been killed in 1944-1945 (Jenne, 2014). Assaults and ethnically targeted attacks have been reported in recent years and the tensions in Serbia have only continued to rise (Wood, 2004).
