The Nu in China have faced forced labor according to records from the Qing empire (1616-1911).  There are very few sources on the matter, therefore we will rate the information a 1.

Although having a very long history in the country, the Nu people only make up about 29,000 of the people in China today.  This small ethnic group mostly resides in the Northwestern Yunnan Province.  During the Qing dynasty (1616 – 1911), it is said that the Nu people were ruled by the Tibetan, Naxi, and Bai people who “used the Nu people as slaves” (Hays, 2015).  The Nu people are said to have been very oppressed by these groups during the time (Hays, 2015).  Besides this, there is no specific descriptions of how the Nu were treated at the time.
